Terms of Service

These terms govern the use of the CareWays Collaborative platform ("Careways", "we"). By creating an account or using the platform, you accept them together with the Privacy Policy.

If you accept them on behalf of an institution, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.

Careways is the Collaborative's platform for reducing mortality in pediatric intensive care units. It has two modules:

• Educational: video courses, pre- and post-assessments, telesimulation, discussion forums and certificates.
• Clinical data: pediatric ICU patient registry, PIM3 scoring, outcomes and dashboards with network indicators.

You need a personal account to use the platform. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date, including your profession and institution.
• Verify your email address. Some access also requires approval from a lead in your network.
• Keep your password secret and not share your account: each account belongs to a single person.
• Tell us immediately if you suspect someone else has accessed your account.

What you can see and do depends on the role the Collaborative assigns you (for example clinician, educator, champion or analyst) and on the institution and unit you belong to.

Do not try to access information, screens or features outside your role. If you see data you should not see, stop using it and let us know.

When using the platform you must not:

• Post data that identifies a patient in the forums, notes or anywhere other than the clinical registry.
• Record real patients in practice mode (sandbox), or practice data in the real registry.
• Bypass security controls, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, or extract data by automated means.
• Copy, redistribute or sell the educational content outside the platform.
• Harass, offend or impersonate other people, or post illegal or misleading content.
• Use the platform in a way that breaches your institution's rules or the applicable law.

If you record patient data, you confirm that your institution has authorized you to do so and that the required legal basis is in place, such as consent or ethics committee approval, as applicable.

Your institution remains responsible for its patients' data. Careways processes it to run the registry and compute the network's quality indicators, as described on the "HIPAA & health data" page.

Critical changes in the registry, such as a patient's discharge, deletion or confidentiality change, are written to an audit log linked to your user.

The platform's content is educational. It does not replace clinical judgment, your institution's protocols or direct patient care.

Risk scores (such as PIM3), indicators and statistical models are support tools for quality improvement and must not be used as the sole basis for clinical decisions.

Certificates are issued when you meet each program's requirements, and anyone with the code can verify them. Unless expressly stated, they are not official continuing medical education credits.

We may revoke a certificate obtained fraudulently or issued in error.

Courses, videos, assessments, telesimulation cases and other materials belong to CareWays Collaborative or their authors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them within the platform for educational purposes.

What you post, such as forum messages or notes, remains yours; you allow us to display and store it within the platform in order to run the service.

We work to keep the platform available, but there may be interruptions for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control. We may add, change or remove features and content.

The platform is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, Careways is not liable for indirect damages or for clinical decisions made based on its content. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law grants you and that cannot be waived.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or puts the security of the platform or of patient data at risk. You can ask us to close your account at any time.

We may update these terms. We will publish the current version on this page with its date; if you keep using the platform after a change, you are deemed to accept it.
